Outreach & Education

Growing the next generation of conservationists in Gem County.

Conservation lasts when communities understand it. The district invests in education and outreach—working with schools, landowners, and partners to share why healthy soil and clean water matter, and how everyone can help.

Featured Project

Shadow Butte Elementary outdoor classroom & pollinator project

The district is collaborating with Shadow Butte Elementary to create an outdoor classroom and pollinator project—giving students a hands-on place to learn about plants, pollinators, soil, and water right outside their school.

Projects like this connect classroom learning to the living landscape and help young people see conservation as something they can be part of.

Build note: Add project photos, current status/timeline, and any way the community can support or get involved (volunteers, donations of plants/materials).

In the Community

Conservation education programs

Pollinator Habitat

Helping schools and landowners establish pollinator-friendly plantings that support healthy ecosystems and food production.

Water-Quality Awareness

Sharing how everyday land-use choices affect the streams and rivers that flow through Gem County.

Soil-Health Learning

Demonstrating the practices—like no-till—that build resilient, productive soil over time.

Build note: Confirm which education programs the district actively runs (e.g., poster/speech contests, scholarships, tours, fair booths, Envirothon) so we list only what’s real and current.

A look at projects, events, and the land we work to protect.

Build note: Replace these placeholders with real photos once Leanne uploads them to the shared Drive folder.
